Stained glass and sketching
Photos of stained glass and sketching
What a scorcher today is... and it's ramping up to be a hot weekend, I really must remember to keep myself topped up with water and use a bit of sunscreen. These will be keeping me cool too ❤️.
I've been scribbling away in the garden this year, hardly up to the quality of The Country Diary of An Edwardian Lady, a book my mum introduced me to as a child, but I've been enjoying the mindfulness of the process and it's quite interesting to capture something of the seasonal flowers while they're around. With that in mind my A5 note pads can be used for sketching or writing, with 48 blank pages for you to fill and they're available in a choice of eight patterns.
Stained glass-wise, I happened across The Angel in the Fields pub off Marylebone Lane last week. I could see there was stained glass inside and it was stunning with beautiful floral designs (see above, bottom right). I asked the barman who had made it, he said it was 175 years old and everything in the pub had changed around it. I believed him, but looked it up when I got home and the glass was made in 1997 by Ann Sotheran. I sent her a mail to let her know and she responded saying she also made the glass in The Champion pub on Wells street and they are both often mistaken for being antique.
I'm planning to have a small open studio event on Sunday 31 May from 2-4pm in our garden workshop. I currently have two stained glass panels on display called Garden and Comet. There will also be some stained glass tealight lamps, zen lights, a few coasters and smaller items available. One panel called By The River (775 x 200mm) is for sale, and could potentially fit above a front door, I'd love to see it used locally. I've been thinking of ideas for using up tiny pieces of glass, and have tried out a mosaic tile, which could be a future short workshop. I'll also have my Inkwell Designs collection on show too.
