Kew Gardens organic cotton cushion cover
£60.00

Limited edition, I hand make these in very small batches in the UK.
43cm x 43cm cushion cover in 100% GOTS organic canvas cotton, to fit an 18x18 inch insert for a plump cushion.

Perfect for a splash of colour to brighten up your home, garden, beach hut or work space. Kew Gardens is a design I created from sketches I made while visiting the amazing floral displays around 'Broad Walk' and 'The Hive' at Kew Gardens. This hand drawn pattern displays flowers in peach, pink, green and yellow on a pale background.

This organic cotton fabric feels soft and luxurious to touch as the fibres haven’t been damaged by toxins or chemicals in the production process. I hand make these cushion covers to order. The printed pattern features on the front of the cushion and is complemented by natural unbleached organic cotton on the back. The cushion has an envelope opening. Handwash at 30º.

—————

Where does the organic cotton originate from for these cushion covers? I ask my printers where they source their materials from. This printed fabric is Certified GOTS Organic Cotton and is grown and woven in China. I sourced the fabric for the back of the cushions myself, this is Organic Cotton which is grown and woven in Spain.

Nicola’s textile designs are available as cushion covers in the following designs: Friendly Anemones, Kew Gardens, Tartan Flamingos.

Tartan Flamingos organic cotton designer scarf
£95.00

A limited edition GOTS fine organic cotton scarf, this is art you can wear.

Pink flamingos are layered on a pink and red plaid patterned background in my Tartan Flamingos design. Inspired by a picnic lunch in Tours, France, when I spotted these elegant birds, they have since taken on an air of tartan about them. Flamingos are beautiful elegant birds and a group of them is known as a flamboyance. This scarf has been specially made for people who love these amazing birds and are interested in sustainable fashion.

I hand-make these in tiny batches in the UK. Large enough to be worn as a vintage-style head scarf, a luxurious hair wrap, bandana, or neck scarf, my designs have been printed on super soft and breathable organic cotton. The scarves are currently available in eight pretty floral and nature inspired patterns.

The Inkwell Design logo has been incorporated in to the design and printed on one corner of the scarf.

What makes organic cotton so special? I’ve chosen Organic Cotton to be kind to the planet, it uses 80% less water to produce than conventional cotton and feels better quality as the fibres haven't been damaged by chemicals or toxins.

Grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs), organic cotton supports healthier ecosystems, protects human health, and promotes fair labour practices. While it may come with higher production costs, the long-term benefits of organic cotton, in terms of environmental preservation, improved soil health and reduced water consumption, make it an important material for a more sustainable future.

At Inkwell Designs we print on organic cotton to support these best practices and to be kind to the planet. I’m also researching a vegan alternative to silk, ideally organic as well, to produce a small run of scarf designs.
