Portrait of a garden

8 July 2025 I find taking photographs quite therapeutic, I enjoy the detail, and I use it as a way to keep memories with me. We’ve been with this garden in Nottinghamshire for many years and we’ll soon be moving on and leaving it, so I wanted to take some photos as a reminder for me. It’s been hard work at times looking after this garden, it’s quite a prickly one with nettles, brambles, sharp rose thorns, holly and ivy, but it’s also brought me much comfort. It’s peaceful and a beautiful haven to relax and feel surrounded by nature. Today I made a study of some of the flowers which are out at the moment, not just the flowers, but also the weeds, which I generally have more contact with. The evening primose is looking wonderful at the moment, there is just the one Red Clover, and quite a few bunches of grapes on the vine in the greenhouse. Google Lens has helped me identify the little orange flower as Fox-and-cubs, the pale lilac flower as Fiddleneck, and the tall dandelion flower as Cupid’s shaving brush.
